Lauren Verney-Fink, Choral Director

 

Lauren Verney-Fink is the Choir Director at Ridgefield High School in Connecticut where she directs a curricular Concert Choir, a co-curricular pop a cappella ensemble, and teaches music elective courses. Prior to teaching in Ridgefield, Lauren spent 11 years at Fairfield Warde High School directing 4 curricular choirs, leading a pop a cappella vocal ensemble, and teaching all of the music elective courses. In 2020, her Fairfield Warde High School Bel Canto Singers were selected as a Showcase Ensemble for the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) In-Service Conference. Additionally, she has had the honor of guest conducting the CT Southern Region Middle School Honors Treble Choir, the Dutchess County, NY Junior High All County Choir, and the Charter Oak Music Festival High School Mixed Choir in Colchester. During the summer, Lauren runs a Vocal Academy workshop for middle schoolers through Ridgefield Public Schools’ Summer Bridge program and was previously an a cappella coach at Camp A Cappella CT. Before teaching in Connecticut, Lauren taught middle school choir in New York and Virginia. She holds degrees from James Madison University (Bachelor of Music) and the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music (Master of Music Education). Over the last 10 years, Lauren has been very involved in the CT-American Choral Directors Association and the CT Music Educators Association serving on Executive Boards for both organizations. When she’s not teaching, Lauren likely can be found playing trucks or drawing on the sidewalk with her 2 young sons and husband, Evan.
