Shane Peters, Orchestra Director

Shane Peters is a distinguished music educator and performer with a comprehensive background in both orchestral direction and jazz studies. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies (Guitar) and K-12 Music Education certification from Western Connecticut State University, as well as a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the SUNY Purchase Conservatory. Additionally, he earned his Intermediate Administrator Certificate from Sacred Heart University.

Mr. Peters was a driving force behind the Middle School Orchestra Program in Ridgefield from 2012 to 2026 before transitioning up to the high school.

An active musician, Peters’ performance credits include engagements at prestigious venues such as The Blue Note, Smalls, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. His professional teaching career began in 2007 as the Orchestra Director at Bethel Middle School. Since 2011, he has served as an Orchestra Director for Ridgefield Public Schools. Beyond his K-12 duties, Peters is a sought-after clinician and has served as an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Western Connecticut State University.
