Lauren Verney-Fink, Choral Director

 

Lauren Verney-Fink is the Choir Director and music teacher at Ridgefield High School. Prior to coming to Ridgefield, she spent 11 years at Fairfield Warde High School directing 4 curricular choirs, leading a pop a cappella ensemble, and teaching the music electives including Vocal Studio, Music Theory, Piano Skills, and Music Technology. In 2020, her Fairfield Warde High School Bel Canto Singers were selected as a Showcase Ensemble for the CMEA In-Service Conference. Additionally, Lauren had the honor of guest conducting the Dutchess County, NY Junior High All County Choir and the Charter Oak Music Festival High School Mixed Choir in Colchester. Before teaching in Fairfield, Lauren taught middle school choir in Westchester County, New York and Fairfax County, Virginia. She holds degrees from James Madison University (Bachelor of Music) and the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music (Master of Music Education). Lauren is very involved in the CT-American Choral Directors Association as Membership Chair after finishing 3 years as High School Repertoire & Resources Co-Chair. She also served as the Professional Development & In-Service Conference Chair on the CT Music Educators Association Executive Council from 2014 to 2016. When she is not at school, Lauren loves playing with her young sons (Rowan and Bram), spending time with her husband Evan, and taking Zumba classes.
