Concert Choir gives students an in depth look at how their voice and body can be used as an instrument. Foundations of vocal technique, along with exposure to phonetics and foreign languages, equips students to read, write, and improvise in many styles and genres. These skills are applied through performance opportunities in and out of school, as well as in compositional and lyrical writing projects, which give students the chance to use their musical abilities as a language of self-expression. Components of music theory and music history round out the class into an “all subjects in one” type of experience.
